One in Eight Online Searches for Mobile End in Transactions: Vizisense

To measure the interest in mobile phones through online, ViziSense, carried out a study over various e-commerce sites for the period January-April 2011. The study shows that users who went to e-commerce sites were spending more time seeking out Blackberry handsets than any other smart phones.

According to the study, 29% of searches were made for Blackberry phones in all searches on e-commerce sites, but Nokia devices are the ones most searched online. Nokia accounted 35% of searches in e-commerce sites, followed by Samsung with 30% of searches and Micromax with 22% of searches.

According to the data of ViziSense, out of eight searches only one search end in transaction. It means that 12% of the people are buying mobile phones from e-commerce and group buying sites. More number of people are comparing many brands before making a final decision to purchase, resulting in lot of user duplication of top brands like, Nokia and Samsung with 50% of the users comparing both brands.

As the Internet provides every bit of information regarding all the new changes and upgrades in phone models and features, it has become an excellent medium to help decision making for buying phones. As the largest buyers are 15-24 year old across the country, Blackberry has captured the market as most of the people of this age group are smart phone crazy.
