India Post Launches ‘e-Post Office’

By the launch of online portal ‘e-Post Office’, India Post, has now made it possible to perform postal transactions and tracking services online, just by sitting anywhere in the world and having access to Internet. The unique features of this online portal are, searching postal information, PIN code search, tracking of express and international shipments and registration of feedback and complaints online.

Apart from the above activities, electronic money order (eMO), instant money order (iMO) and sale of philatelic stamps can also be made online. To send eMO or iMO to any person at anywhere in the country, the user can use his credit or debit card.

In addition to performing postal transactions, this e portal also acts as a e-commerce portal for Department of Post (DoP). DoP will perform some commercial business transactions like, selling of artifacts, handicrafts and other products made by small scale industries.

In order to expand the reach of the portal, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, is planning to develop the content in the site in other local languages. The next version is supposed to be launched in Bangla and Kannada languages. The Ministry is planning to bring some more unique features in the next phase of e-post office project.
